Soroptimist International is a GLOBAL network of volunteers working to improve the lives of women and girls through educational programs that help them achieve their individual and collective potential, realize their aspirations and have an equal voice in their communities worldwide.

Soroptimist International of PARKER is a long-standing member of the Parker community, committed to serving women and girls in the area for 57 years and counting. The membership representation ranges from business owners, real estate and finance professionals, county officials, heads of social service organizations and staff, and a number of retired professionals. Membership provides an enriching environment for women to develop friendships and to support each other while experiencing the satisfaction of their collective efforts to improve our community, and by extension the world.

Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) is a part of Soroptimist International - the world's largest service organization for executive and professional women.

Soroptimist, coined from the Latin "soror" and "optima" (best for women), was founded in 1921 in Oakland, California. Eighty women in professions, that included medicine, laboratory technology, education and printing formed the first Soroptimist club to "foster the ideal of service".

Soroptimist International comprises five federations, with over 72,000 members in a 121 countries and territories throughout the world.

With about 30,000 members and supporters in countries across North America, Latin America and the Pacific Rim, Soroptimist International of the Americas is the largest of four federations. The other three federations include Soroptimist International of Great Britain & Ireland, Soroptimist International of Europe, and Soroptimist International of the South West Pacific and our newest federation, Soroptimist International Africa Federation.

The meeting place for Soroptimist International of Parker is conveniently located in Parker. Noon meetings are held on the first three Tuesdays of each month (except July and August) at Arizona Western College - Parker Community Center.

Using a three-pronged approach of awareness, advocacy and action, Soroptimist International identifies special needs in the community, and then establishes projects that best address these specific needs.

Our primary service programs are:

• The "Live Your Dream Award" - a cash award to assist women head-of-households in getting additional education or training in order to improve their socio-economic status and their ability to care for their families.
• The "Soroptimist/Esther Beaver Scholarship" - a $2000 educational scholarship to any accredited Arizona program open to all FEMALE students ages 16 to 19 years who have distinguished themselves as leaders among peers and/or volunteers in the school and community, shown innovative and creative ways to make a difference, and displays a can-do attitude despite challenges.
• Our "S-Club of Parker High School" an off-campus organization for HS girls that is facilitated, financially supported and mentored by Soroptimist International of Parker. This club provides a safe and nurturing environment for girls to learn teamwork, social skills, and leadership skills, which empowers them to reach their full potential. 
• "Strong Girls Workshop" - a FREE full-day seminar and luncheon for girls entering High School, providing workshops on various issues of drug and alcohol abuse, teen violence & cyber-bullying, self esteem, teen dating and pregnancy, what to expect in High School, etc. Our "S-club" acts as HOSTS for this event, providing skits, decorations, registration and guidance for the attendees.
• "Father ~ Daughter Dance" - in partnership with Colorado River Regional Crisis Services, we help provide a FREE evening of dinner, dancing and games for fathers and daughters of all ages and walks of life. Usually held the Saturday night before Father's Day.
• "Soroptimist Wing" at the local Colorado River Regional Crisis Services "safe house" - providing maintenance, furniture, bedding and decor.

Fundraising is an integral part to the club's success of these much needed programs and the club holds various fundraising and hands-on projects throughout the year, for which all club members are expected to participate.
